Recent approaches to issues of global warming as the lost of territory by flooding are of preventing the most damage. What if instead of controlling nature's forces we gave it more space? What if instead of containing the river expansion in Queens we described the 100 years flood as a wild/unbuilt territory. This area will be subtracted of the city fabric to accommodate the expanding river. The city would then be compressed into the reflected Manhattan grid.
